Denver Restaurants: Comfort Foods to Warm You Up In The Winter!

November 29, 2017

As the leaves begin to fall and the cold weather starts to set in, there’s nothing more that people crave in the winter than comfort foods that warm them right up. At DJ’s Cafe, we definitely have some of the best comfort foods on our menus that can help you deal with the dropping temperatures. We serve up Breakfast, Brunch, and Lunch so you can get a warm meal for anytime of the day. So, what foods boost your body heat? Keep reading to find out!

Warming Breakfast Foods

While all of our dishes are served hot and fresh, there are a few that stand out for breakfast. First up, biscuits and gravy. This classic is one of the top breakfast comfort foods, and for good reason. We take two house made biscuits and smother them with spicy sausage gravy. You’ll also get two eggs served any style you prefer and a choice of meat.

While you might think soups and stews are meant for lunch and dinner, think again. At DJ’s Cafe, we have our signature Chorizo Breakfast Stew - perfect for a cold day! Our spicy chorizo and vegetable stew is topped with two poached eggs on toasted baguette croutons and garnished with citrus gremolata. This dish will not only warm you up, but it will definitely be a hit for your taste buds.

Warming Brunch Foods

With Brunch, you can either focus on a breakfast favorite, or a lunch one - it’s the best of both worlds! Our top choice for a warming brunch menu item would be the Sirloin Scramble. Another signature item of ours, the Sirloin Scramble includes sirloin steak tips, scrambled eggs, shallots, and crimini mushrooms served with home fry potatoes, seasonal fruit, and your choice of toast. Filling but also delicious, and you can eat steak before dinner!

Warming Lunch Foods

Our lunch menu also provides a variety of warming foods that will fit whatever you’re craving that day! The very first section on our menu includes hot sandwiches. While DJ’s Cafe is located in Colorado, we do make a mean Philly Melt. We use sirloin steak tips, sauteed crimini mushrooms, shallots, and provolone on a grilled freshly baked baguette. Or, if you’re looking for something different, try our Reuben sandwich. Thinly sliced house made corned beef is topped with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and house made Russian dressing, and placed on grilled marble rye bread. If you’re still feeling cold after our hot sandwiches, order a cup of soup on the side! We have fresh selections daily.

Finally, to really get that comforting, warming dish, try our Chicken Pot Pie, served at Brunch and Lunch. We make these in house so they’re fresh, and always use a puff pastry crust. You can’t beat that (especially in the winter)!

The next time you’re looking for a Denver restaurant with foods that will warm you up, come check out DJ’s Cafe! We have two locations to serve you, and are open from Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Check out our top five menu items to try!

Best Brunch Spots in Denver: Menu Items to Help Your Hangover

November 15, 2017

It’s a story that happens all the time. You go out with friends or family to enjoy a night on the town, and end up drinking a little too much. You wake up the next day probably wishing you hadn’t partaken in so many libations, but you also wake up wanting to cure the sick feeling that’s prohibiting you from doing anything all day. While science out there backs up some of the best and worst foods to cure a hangover, at DJ’s Cafe we have large breakfast, brunch, and lunch menus that offer any food that you’d be craving, or wanting to eat so you can get up on your feet again. Here are just a few of what menu items we have that can help your hangover from the best brunch spot in Denver!

Did you know? Eggs are one of the best foods you can eat to help your hangover because they’re full of amino acids that help boost liver function and prevent liver disease. They also have cysteine in them, which breaks down acetaldehyde (the chemical that causes headaches that’s left over when the liver breaks down ethanol).  At DJ’s Cafe, you can get two eggs served any style you want them, along with home fries, your choice of toast and meat. With this breakfast, you can reap the benefits of the eggs, and the carbs and protein of meat. It’s a win-win!

Oatmeal is perfect when you wake up feeling less than great after a night out. Oats provide essential nutrients like vitamin B, calcium, magnesium, and iron. Additionally, a warm bowl of oatmeal neutralizes acids in your body and raises your blood sugar, so you’ll feel an instant boost of energy. DJ’s Cafe offers Irish style oatmeal (steel cut oats) with your choice of two toppings: dried cranberries, roasted pistachios, chopped dates, or brown sugar.

Most likely you probably won’t be waking up at the crack of dawn and ready to go out to get some breakfast, so by the time you actually do make it out it will be lunch time. In this case, soup is going to be your best friend! Chicken noodle soup isn’t the most obvious, go-to hangover food, but a bowl or cup of this soup helps replenish sodium and water levels in your body. The pieces of chicken will provide cysteine, helping give your liver a boost after a long night out. If chicken noodle soup isn’t your favorite, just go with a broth-based soup. Broth rehydrates and replenishes your sodium levels. At DJ’s Cafe, we always offer a soup of the day in cup or bowl form. If you want some green veggies, you can also get it with a side salad. Perfect for when your stomach can’t handle a big meal!

If you want to go with your gut, and order the food that your body is craving, go for it! Be sure to check out our top five menu items, which are always crowd pleasers. The next time you wake up feeling less than great, be sure to stop by DJ’s Cafe for some a menu with items sure to help your hangover! With two locations to serve you, we are open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. so you can pop in whenever you wake up from your slumber!

Featured Denver Breakfast: Top 5 Menu Items to Try at DJ’s

November 1, 2017

Breakfast is an essential part of the day during the week and on the weekends. If you’re looking for a breakfast spot to grab that omelette you’ve been craving, or bring the family for a Sunday gathering, look no further than DJ’s Cafe, the best breakfast spot in Denver!

For breakfast, the menu features eggs any way you want them, pancakes, waffles, eggs benedict, or quick grab and go eats. Whatever you and your friends, coworkers, or family decide to eat, you can be sure that a delicious breakfast awaits you. The following five menu items can’t be beat when it comes to the breakfast menu at DJ’s Cafe.

The Kitchen Sink

Can’t really decide on what to get? You can have everything… all in one breakfast! And, we truly mean it. This dish will leave you satisfied through the morning, until lunch, and you’ll want to tell your friends all about it.

We take home-fried potatoes and smother them in green chile, cheddar cheese, and topped it off with two eggs any way you want ‘em. You’ll also get two different types of bacon - regular and Canadian - served on the side with a warm flour tortilla for scooping. You’ll need it, trust us!

DJ’s Toad in a Hole

This famous, classic breakfast item has gotten a facelift - DJ’s Cafe style. Typically, you would find two pieces of toast with holes cut out in them, and replaced with a fried egg. The ambiguous history of ‘egg in a hole’ really equates down to a simple dish. While the traditional way to eat toad in a hole is still good, we wanted to put our own twist on it.

Instead of using toast, we take two pancakes which are studded with crispy bacon. Then, we cook an egg right in the middle of each one. If you are looking for something sweet and savory, check out DJ’s Toad in a Hole.

New Mexico Benedict

We love all things spicy/tossed with peppers here in Colorado, and at DJ’s our eggs benedict is no different! Have you ever tried a spicy bennie? Try our New Mexico spin on the classic egg dish.

We layer two poached eggs on chorizo patties with fire roasted poblano peppers and place them housemade cheddar polenta, all topped with our own hollandaise sauce.

Sirloin Scramble

You can have your steak and eat it too! If you’re a big fan of sirloin, and want something more dinner-esque, (but for breakfast) then look no further. Our Sirloin Scramble consists of sirloin steak tips, scrambled eggs, shallots, and crimini mushrooms served with home-fried potatoes. Don’t forget - you also get some seasonal fruit and choice of toast on the side!

Nutella and Fig Stuffed French Toast

Everyone loves French toast, and we do too, but we wanted to class it up a little with our Nutella and Fig Stuffed French Toast. French toast is served hot off the griddle and is stuffed with glorious Nutella. We then add some minced figs and viola! It’s a delightful combination. You’ll also get a side of fresh, seasonal fruit, maple syrup, and butter.

The next time you’re looking for a fantastic breakfast spot, visit DJ’s Cafe for the best breakfast in Denver. We have two locations to serve you, and are open from Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Check out our breakfast, brunch, and lunch menus to see everything we have to offer!

Best Lunch Spots in Denver: The Importance of Midday Lunch

October 18, 2017

You’ve definitely heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The importance of breakfast and getting off to a good start is certainly true, but lunch is also extremely important. Your midday fuelup is crucial for a variety of reasons, and keeps your mind and body running at optimal pace to finish out the workday. It’s certainly not always easy to be able to take a lunch break, but here are the reasons why you should!

Eat The Right Foods

You’ll often find people who skip lunch due to them being too busy or they’re trying to cut calories and lose weight. The latter theory almost never works, and skipping a meal wrecks havoc on your body. When you do make it out to lunch or eat the office, make sure your lunch is packed with nutritious, healthy food. Your nutrition will determine how productive you are the rest of the day. While we all love a good greasy meal every now and then, it’s best to skip that option for lunch.

Eating at midday, several hours after breakfast, allows your body to re-energize and raises blood sugar levels for better focus and concentration after lunch. Your boss will certainly enjoy that! Lunch can relieve yourself from feeling sluggish and feel refreshed and ready for your afternoon workload. Midday fuel also keeps your metabolism going compared to dropping off if you wait several hours between eating meals.

The sounds of a cafe have been proven to be benefit your creative juices, and pushes you out of your comfort zone and propels your “out of the box” thinking. Aside from the noise level, working at a cafe or just taking your lunch break at a cafe allows for a fresh, new location. A change of location renews your focus and can get you to work on your to do list more quickly than if you’re stuck in the same workspace all day.

So many people find themselves skipping their lunch break and it’s not a good thing! By not taking a break, you’re actually reducing your capability to be creative. Your brain is exhausted and you’ll find yourself not clearly thinking and making more mistakes than the norm. It’s so important that you take your lunch break to do a refresh on your mindfulness.

Best Restaurants in Denver: The Rising Popularity of Online Food Delivery

October 4, 2017

When you think of food delivery, you typically have only really considered pizza or Chinese food as an option. But, with the growing presence of the Internet and ecommerce, food delivery has skyrocketed for restaurants all over the world. It’s not just for pizza, anymore.

You’ll notice that many restaurants are adding the option of online order and online delivery as a way to increase sales and make it easier for customers to choose them as their eating destination. Gone are the old days of dialing your restaurant up on the phone to place an order; many restaurants have adopted new technologies to handle the rise of online food delivery orders. The changing market for food delivery is transforming every day. Here are just a few of the recent trends contributing to online food delivery from your best restaurant in Denver!

Food Delivery Apps and Social Media

It’s no surprise that companies have flocked to social media to help drive sales when it comes to online ordering. Apps for your phone have been introduced into the world as a way to make ordering easier and faster than ever before. Take Domino’s for example, who have dominated this trend in the past few years. Not only can customers create a “Pizza Profile” where they can input their information, and also their favorite pizza order, but they can actually order their favorite pizza but texting just a single emoji. Talk about ease of use for the customer!

Phone Orders Begone!

While most restaurants will still allow a customer to place an order by the phone, it might become the archaic way in the near future. So many restaurants are implementing online ordering as a way to make it extremely easy for the customer, and easy on their employees to receive orders as well. With the new install of online ordering, restaurants will see fewer and fewer errors on orders as you can eliminate language barriers and background noise that might cause the order to get miscommunicated like it would over the phone.

Lower Prices in the Future

As restaurants install equipment and implement a streamlined process for online ordering, this could allow restaurants to eventually lower their pricing. Social media will allow restaurants to attract new customers, and keep loyal ones, by incentivizing them with promotions and instant discounts when placing an order online. You’ll eventually see restaurants targeting audiences with specific promotions, and motivating more customers to order online.

At DJ’s Cafe, we certainly offer online ordering, and encourage you to try it out! We offer breakfast, brunch, and lunch from 7 am to 2 pm Monday through Friday, and 8 am to 3 pm Saturday and Sunday. Check out our menus for whatever meal you’re craving. We can also delivery lunch to your office if you can’t get out for a lunch break. Be sure to check out the top 5 lunch menu items!
